Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Now is the time to start planning your Summer 2010 holidays as there are super low cost deals, plenty of availability, free child places, offers if holidays are booked online and superb lead in prices to take advantage of!

January has notoriously been the peak period for booking summer holidays for decades and tour operators will be looking to ensure you book yours with them…

The Spanish Canary Islands are always a firm summer holiday favourite, although the Costa del Sol and the Portuguese Algarve tends to be where the best holiday deals can be found.

Greece is beautiful in the summer; explore the scenic north of Corfu for a fantastic, relaxing family holiday or buy a package holiday in the glorious sandy south and stay in the party town of Kavos. How about the pretty historic south east of Rhodes island with self catering accommodation in Lindos or a hotel in Ixia, the windsurfing favourite in the north east? Greek Skiathos island is ideal for holiday makers who like to travel but would rather not drive, as a regular bus service runs along the south coast from the beautiful sandy arc of beach at Koukounaries in the east, to the bustling capital Skiathos Town, in the west.

Combine a city break with a summer beach holiday and head to Nice in the South of France on the Cote d’Azur; a cosmopolitan city on the Mediterranean. From Nice you could head west to Monte Carlo and then onto Italy, or head east to Cannes, Cap Esterel, St Raphael and St Tropez.

The Croatian coast will be warm during the summer and perfect for family holidays or group holidays as will Algarve holidays, as both offer a good choice of budget and luxury accommodation, with a huge choice of diverse resorts.

Majorca holidays, Menorca holidays and holidays to Ibiza have been popular for a long time. There are many low cost flights to the Balearic Islands, and resorts such as Magaluf in Majorca and Ibiza Town (Ibiza) are clubbing hotspots for young party goers.  Santa Eulalia and Portinatz in Ibiza are ideal for a more relaxed and friendly holidays, whilst Port de Pollenca in Majorca and Ciutadella in Menorca are family hot spots.

Greece in the spring and summer is divine!  Cool azur waters, stunning stretches of beaches and hidden coves, white washed mountain side villages and elegant costal hotels and a story-rich history. But where will you go for this year’s holiday to Greece?

You will find that the large islands of Rhodes, Crete and Corfu offer endless holiday choices. For partying how about Kavos in southern Corfu or for a more authentic Greek holiday, how about Agia Pelagia in northern Crete?  There are long sandy beaches, perfect spots for water sports, endless historical visits and everywhere is family friendly.  How about flying to Rhodes, grabbing your rental car at the airport and staying in Ixia on the north coast for lots of windsurfing and visits to Rhodes Town, followed by a drive down to famous Lindos on the south east coast, towered over by its Acropolis?

If you enjoy driving or are looking for quieter beaches and interesting Greek towns, why not take a fly drive holiday to Kefalonia?  Start in the south where the beaches are sandy around Skala and Mounda, then follow the western coast to the tiny villages of Lourdata and Trapezaki; pop into the main town of Argostoli, then either drive round to the red beaches of Xi on Kefalonia’s peninsular or north to the delightful village of Assos followed by the port town and yachting haven of Fiskado?

Wherever you holiday in Greece, on the mainland or on one of the islands, you discover such variety in your stay – guaranteed if hiring a car to explore! Quiet coves and hidden bays, sailing and kitesurfing, party towns and long stretches of beaches, peaceful resorts and bustling cities – whatever you require from your holiday, you are bound to find it in Greece!
