Holiday ideas for Spain – days out in Alicante

If you’re planning a holiday to Spain’s Costa Blanca, you can really make the most of your holiday by booking a hire car from easyCar.com. Terra Mitica – this fantastic theme park is one of the most popular attractions on the Costa Blanca and there are six different themed areas for you to explore: Egypt, Greece, Iberia, Rome, The Islands and Ocionia.

Terra Mitica The park’s thrill rides include The Flight of the Phoenix, a free-fall ride; the 60mph Inferno vertical roller coaster; the 100kmph Magnus Colossus wooden rollercoaster; the Falls of the Nile water-coaster; the Titanide rollercoaster; the Triton’s Fury flume ride; and The Anger of Akiles pendulum ride.

There are also plenty of rides for children at Terra Mitica, including junior versions of the Flight of the Phoenix and Falls of the Nile rides, bumper car rides and a carousel. You can watch a number of shows in the park, such as the Red Beard pirate show or the circus-style Tarantela show, and there is also a wide range of cafes and fast food outlets for you to choose from when you fancy a bite to eat.

It will only take you about 35 minutes to drive from Alicante to Terra Mitica and you can park your rental car in the theme park’s car park.

Terra Natura – Animal lovers should head for Terra Natura, a beautifully landscaped wildlife park, which is home to many different types of animals, birds and reptiles. The park is divided into four different areas (Asia, America, Pangea and Europe) and there is so much to see that you should plan to spend at least four hours here.

Terra Natura’s residents include snakes, tigers, elephants, leopards, crocodiles, turtles and monkeys, and you can also watch two bird shows, “Flight of the Parrots” and “Flight of the Birds of Prey”.

The wildlife park is only about 40 minutes’ drive from Alicante, so it’s easy to reach if you hire a car.

Aqualandia, Benidorm Aqualandia – This water park is the perfect place to go if you want to cool down. You can relax on the Niagara beach, float down the Amazonas river ride or bathe in the warm Jacuzzi waters. If you fancy something more active, try out the Laguna area, which has springboards, rings and nets for you to negotiate, or fly down the Black Hole or Kamikaze water chutes.

Other attractions in Aqualandia include the Splash multi-track water ride, the Rapidos river rapids ride and the Big Bang chute ride. There is also a dedicated area for younger children, Adventureland.

Aqualandia is situated on the outskirts of Benidorm and it will take you about 40 minutes to drive there from Alicante in your Costa Blanca hire car.
